Obama (Note: as he currently has incumbent status, there is very little chance any other Democrat will be elected for the primary or the general election; as a result there is no need to go over any other prospectives. There are no other prospective democratic candidates.)

- Supporter of easier immigration and open borders
- Gun control and a semi-auto ban
- Pro NAFTA and UN, ect.
Mitt Romney (Note: As of today, Romney is the favored GOP candidate.)
- Against National mandatory healthcare
- Wants tax cuts and a balanced budget amendment
- Pro troops and supports Iraq and Afghanistan wars
- Supports increased spending on charter schools
- Supports abstinence programs in schools
- Supports gun control, but mildly. The NRA gave him a B rating showing that in most cases he is pro gun, but not all.
- Anti gay marriage, but supports some domestic partnership rights. Supported state level laws banning discrimination in the work place.
Ron Paul (Note: He will likely just split the GOP vote and ensure Obama's presidency but that's neither here nor there.)
- Very Pro-life
- Anti-Federal Reserve and supports decommissioning it.
- Supports a Balanced Budget Amendment and living within the country's means
- Anti-Middle Eastern war because of the financial costs associated with it.
- Very Pro-Second Amendment rights. Advocates for many reductions on gun control.
- Supports private schools.
- In regards to business, he wants the least amount of government intervention possible.
Newt Gingrich
- Anti National health care, referred to it (rightly) as socialism.
- Supports reduction in the Federal deficit and tax cuts
- Supports war on terror and Afghanistan and Iraq
- Skeptical of Islam
- Increased border security with a guest worker program
- In education, greater teacher accountability with more funding for math and science
- Anti abortion, gay marriage, and gay adoption
Jon Huntsman dropped out today.
I don't think that most voters honestly look at the views of the candidates they vote for. All they look for is that R or D that accompanies the candidates name. The Framers must be so disappointed. I would again reiterate: Voting should be based on similarity to personal beliefs. Religion, race, or party should not be the sole reason for electing a candidate.
